Ugh. You guys - I'm sick.
Actually, it's not much more than a sore throat right now, but - ow. It hurts. Like, really hurts! It feels like I swallowed a Garden Claw. I'm trying to drink a glass of chlorophyll right now, and man, I don't know if I can finish! Honestly, I'd rather be completely stuffed up and lying in bed delirious than have a sore throat.
My mom is like, "I'll buy you some oranges tomorrow!" but seriously? Fuck the fruit. I want some drugs.
Whine.

Poor baby. Do you have whatever the Canadian version of Sudafed is? Even allergy medication would help a bit.
I hate sore throats, too- they always make me feel EXTRA sick.
You might try a lot of ibuprofen or whatever painkiller you prefer-- it won't make your sore throat go away, but it will probably make it feel a little bit better.
Right now I have NyQuil and DayQuil, which is SO. NOT. HELPING. I don't get it! DayQuil is my super-duper-for-sure-feeling-better medicine. The hell?
You sound pretty sick. Can you take a day off and just sleep?
They're tasty good and full of stuff that make your throat feel better. The other thing that helped me this winter was the Airborne Gummi Throat Lozenges.
(I had four sinus infections in three months this winter. When i get a sinus infection i get the worst post-nasal drip EVER. My throat hurt so badly for so long that i was subsisting on mandarin oranges in gelatin, chicken noodle soup and gatorade, plus lots of cold care pops, gummi throat lozenges as popsicles.) I agree that i'd much rather have anything else than to have a sore throat.
May you get well soon. :)
Yikes. That's a nightmare and a half. What the heck are Get Better Bears? That sounds like candy that makes you feel better - which is all I ever wanted in life. Is that just an American thing? Where do I get some of that?!
Doctor: Okay, what's wrong?
Me: My throat hurts!
Doctor: Buy some Ricola.
Me: But what if it's like, my tonsils or something? Or what if I have Mono?
Doctor: Oh, christ. You don't have Mono! I delivered you, you've never been really sick a day in your life, you just the flu a lot. Are you still smoking? Quit the cigarettes, you'll see how much better your throat feels. Next!
Me: But...
Doctor: Dammit, there are sick people here! Out of the way!
Etc. This is completely illogical since my doctor is (a), not insane, and (b) a sweet older lady who always regales me with the Tale of My Birth and How It Was Her First Delivery.
But ... I can see where doctors are intimidating. But you know. It's their job to give a shit. And why suffer if you can get happy bugs to eat the germs. Or something.
My favorite medicine is Tylenol Flu (which comes in Daytime and Nighttime formulas). It works really well for me.
I used to love Comtrex Cold, but they either stopped making it or only sell it in places I've never looked.
Sorry you're sick!
Can you e-mail me your cell #?
Let me know, and if you want to postpone that is a-ok - we can do it next week!
PLEASE can we postpone? I feel like I'm dying. Next week, I should be totally fine, though. My cell phone number is (647) 281-4328.
Thankyouthankyouthankyou :D
I use Tylenol Sore Throat which is sometimes called Tylenol Flu (totally the same thing), but the key is I use the LIQUID version. I sip just an itty bitty bit at a time so it is constantly coating my throat. I stretch the dose for as long as I possibly can, and do this throughout the day as long as I don't go over the recommended amount. The way I figure it, it should work better if it is constantly on my throat then if I just take the dose all at once. I don't know if this is true, but it certainly works in my case.
If all else fails, take honey (directly), or bananas- the bananas also have a coating, soothing quality that helps. I don't particularly like bananas, but it does the trick and temporarily stops the scrapey, scratchy feeling.
Hope this helps and that you feel better soon.
